The New Type of Influenza
There is a new type of influenza called “H1N1″, familiar with as swine flu. Today, there are 28 different countries;regions that got swine flu, and Japan is now one of them.

Some people cares about the swine flu, but some people don’t. I am at the side for people who cares about swine flu.I care about swine flu because, I think it’s quite dangerous. Scientists say that the viruses aren’t that strong for this swine flu, but when I see the level for the swine flu, made by the World Health Organization, it is Level 5, it feels like we have to start worrying about it. Another thing that I worry about is that if I get the swine flu. In my life, I have got the Norovirus, a Influenza, The food borne illness called “O18″. I have got different types of flu, and I am not scared to get another one, but I am worried that if I get it, and because of myself, another person from my school gets it. Another scientist says this.
“Because the countries of the southern hemisphere is in the winter season right now and it is a season that has the seasonal influenza, so the countries in the southern hemisphere could have two different types of influenzas and spread around the countries.”
From that quote, I felt sorry for people in the countries at the southern hemisphere if that happened to them.That is what I would like to say. I hope that the swine flu won’t get worse than this, and every body in the world who has the swine flu would get better.

What do you think about using a blog/ website for learning at school?
A: Well I think that it is a great opportunity to have a website to have a blog and use it for lots of things, and it is fun to use it.
What are the best/worst things about using blogs?
Well one of the things that I would find about the worst things is that it sometimes doesn’t let me log in or maybe because lots of people are going in to the blog at once, it makes an error that says “come back again”…. and it takes a lot of time to load. The good things are that you can tell or say your opinions by the blogs and comment each others.
Do you like the idea of using your blog/website for other classes, not just English? What subjects and why?
Yes, because for example for art, you can take a photo, and put it on your blog so that your parents could see it on the blog, or they can comment on it easily.
What are your favourite websites that you use?
I use facebook sometimes to chat with people.
What would you like to be able to do use your blog/ website for? What ideas have you got?
I don’t really have some ideas… I like it how it is
Do you think it is important to learn how to use things like blogs? Why? Why not?
You might want to learn how to use a blog because you can use the techniques when you get older, and for work, and help.

This is a story that I am reading called The Red Glass. I haven’t finished reading it yet, so I will be only telling you of what I have just read.
Sophie and her family was called by a hospital, and there was a boy called “Pablo” who was recovering from dehydration, and he is now living with Sophie.
The part that I am reading now is where Dika, Sophie, Mr. Lorenzo, Angel, and Pablo went to Pablo’s village to see Pablo’s parents. But while they are traveling, there are few problems that they would experience.
I don’t know what would happen next because I haven’t read the whole story yet, so I am excited to read the next part.

“The Miniature Adventure”

During a summer break in June, I was bored. I just graduated elementary, and I was going to start 6th grade in September. Sitting in the middle of my living room, doing nothing, and lying down was just boring. All of my members in my family were gone. My mother brought my sister to a supermarket to buy vegetables.
My father had gone to Australia because of his business. But there was one person left. My uncle. My uncle is a chemist, and a scientist. He mixes chemicals all day except for his meal. Even though he is still here, he is still busy on his chemical functions. But I decided to go and watch him mix his chemicals.
I went next door where my uncle’s science lab was. In his science lab were long corridors you needed to take to get to my uncle’s lab. I guess that he didn’t want anyone to see his lab. I walked past by a table. There were few chemicals lined up. I found a chemical that was light blue. That is my favorite color. I picked it up and I looked at it very closely. —MINIMINI—How is that suppose to mean? I put a teeny tiny drop on to my hand. It was shiny and glamorous. I licked that to my mouth. I closed my eyes and my ears.
All of a sudden, I was a miniature human. All I could see around were dusts, cockroaches and rats! Ewwww… I looked up. I saw the tables and shelves. Because I am a miniature human, and I have never experienced this height, I didn’t know which direction to go back to my house. I just trusted my thoughts to move.
“Gerald, I’m home! Your meal is also done!” said my mother. Her voice was louder than usual. Her voice sounded like a giant.
“Hmm… maybe I could listen to my mom’s voice to go to the dining room.” I thought. I carefully went forward trying not to step on to cockroaches and rats, I listened to my mom’s humongous loud voice, and went back to my house.
“ Finally! I came back to my house! Now all I need is to go to the dining room, and eat my meal!” I said to myself.
Right in front of me was a huge table. I was like a monster house. I felt like if I were a hero if I climbed up this table. So I tried my best and I climbed up the table. When I got to the table, I shouted out,
“ I did it… Hey, where’s everybody, and where’s my lunch?” I looked at the clock and realized that I took an hour to come here and everybody has already finished eating.
“ I guess I have to wait until dinner.” I had to wait 4 hours on top of the dining table. It felt the same as when I was lying down at the living room. I looked out of the closest window near me. The sky became dark.
My mom came in to the kitchen. She came to cook raw meat. I guessed that she made us a steak course. She went to the refrigerator to get pudding for the special dessert. She put cream; whip cream and caramel sauce on top of the pudding. That was my favorite dessert.
The dinner was brought to the table. The Steak came first, the rice second, soup third, and finally the special dessert. My mom put the entire course on to the table including mine. She thought I was playing baseball with my friends. But I was supposed to be back at 5:00. But I wasn’t, and it was already 6:00. My family started eating. My mom looked like she started to worry about me. An hour has passed. They were all munching on their dessert now. I wanted to eat my dessert because I was really hungry and I couldn’t help it.
I dove in to the pudding dish, and tried to eat it but by mistake, I dove into my dad’s dish by mistake. My dad had his spoon in his hand, and without noticing me, he scooped up his pudding in his mouth and he tried to put that into his mouth!
“Mom, dad I’m sorry. But I’m going to die!!!!!!”
But soon as my dad was going to eat it, the phone rang. My dad went to get it. After he finished talking on the phone, the bell still rang in my head.
“What’s happening??????”………..
“Gerald Hemphson! What time do you think is now! Wake up dear!”
I woke up. I noticed that my mother was calling me to wake up, and the ringing noise that was in my head was gone! I realized that it was my alarm.
“Hey wait a minute, my body! What can I see?” I said to myself.
I saw my room with my favorite rock star poster, my desk and chair, and my bed. I checked my body. It was my normal size. I was back!
I changed in to my clothes and dressed up. I ran down stairs.
“Oh! Mom! Mom! I am glad that I can see you!”
“ Oh, Gerald, now what made you say things like that? I think you had a great dream. Tell me about it!”
“ Mom, but it will take a long time. I can’t be late for the 1st day of middle school. So I will tell it to you after school ok, Mom?”
“ Ok. Now don’t be late for school. Have a nice day Gerald.”
So I went off to my first day of middle school. I wonder what will happen in my dream next.

Hi, it has been a long time since I updated my blog…..
I am going to tell you about a book that I read.
I am living in Japan, and I am a Japanese. I have been curious about the history of Japan.
It was a long time ago when the country of Japan has started. When the country of Japan has started, the prefecture called “Hokkaido” wasn’t mapped out yet as Japan.
This book is really understandable and shown as “manga”. But this is recommended for only people who could speak or can read Japanese. I’m sorry.
The ancient Japanese shared their food and,celebrated when somebody got married or a baby was born. The first queen of Japan was a woman who could read the future and it really occurred. Her name was “Himiko”. People say that no one ever saw Himiko’s face because she was hidden by a curtain but we don’t know if it is true or not. When Himiko died, in the book that I read, she was buried in a large grave because she was the queen. After she died, her daughter has been replaced for the queen of Japan.
I liked how they shared and lived. I hope Japan would be more nice, and be a great country.

1. The website “How to draw cartoons” helps you to draw a cartoon. It shows you some tips, and has some other websites that is similar to this webpage. It has different columns that shows different ways to draw them. For example it shows flowers, human, animals, dragons and holiday things.
2. I think that this cartoon is good to get the advice of speeches and captions because “Snoopy” can not talk but could imagine so I think it has lots of captions or speech bubbles.
3. I think this helps me to “Plan” of how to write a cartoon. It shows step by step and neatly leads to a cartoon picture.
